Vivo has officially launched the Y500 4G, a budget smartphone built around an 8,100 mAh battery, one of the largest ever fitted into a Vivo phone. The company confirmed the release this week in Pakistan and Nepal, following a teaser campaign that ran through June. For shoppers who dread daily charging, the timing matters: battery anxiety remains one of the top complaints among budget phone buyers worldwide, and the Vivo Y500 targets that pain point directly.
What the Vivo Y500 Brings to the Table
The headline feature is obvious from the spec sheet alone. Vivo built the Y500 around endurance first, then layered in a large display, a capable camera, and rugged certifications without pushing the price into mid-range territory. That combination is rare in this segment, where extended battery life usually means a smaller screen or an outdated chipset. Vivo positions the Y500 4G as an “all-day and beyond” device, and early specifications back up that claim. The phone pairs its battery advantage with software tools designed to extend battery life during heavy tasks like gaming or video streaming.

Display and Design Built for Daily Use
The Vivo Y500 4G features a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, giving it smooth scrolling for a phone in this price class. Vivo rates peak brightness at 5,000 nits, which should keep the screen readable under direct sunlight.
A Screen Meant for Outdoor Visibility
Vivo says the panel carries SGS Five-Star sunlight-readable certification, along with low-blue-light certification for extended reading sessions. The display achieves a 94.47 percent screen-to-body ratio, so bezels stay thin despite the phone’s large footprint. Despite housing that oversized battery, the chassis measures roughly 8.19 millimeters thick.
Performance and Software on the Vivo Y500
Inside, the Vivo Y500 4G runs on the Unisoc T7300, a 6nm chipset built for 4G rather than 5G networks. Vivo cites an AnTuTu score above 680,000 and claims a 28 percent gain in CPU performance over the Snapdragon 685 used in earlier Y-series models. The phone ships with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A 3,000 mm² vapor chamber cooling system helps manage heat during longer gaming sessions. On the software side, the device runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6 layered on top, bringing AI features such as Circle to Search, AI Transcript Assist, and a Smart Call Assistant, though some tools require a network connection or regional availability.
Battery Life That Sets the Vivo Y500 Apart

Most budget phones average between 5,000 mAh and 6,000 mAh, which makes the Vivo Y500’s 8,100 mAh cell (rated at 7,920 mAh typical capacity) a significant jump. Vivo brands the technology “BlueVolt” and backs it with lab-tested usage figures rather than vague marketing claims.
Charging Speed and Long-Term Health
The battery supports 44W wired fast charging, along with reverse charging that lets the phone function as a power bank for other devices. Vivo also states the battery should retain at least 80 percent of its original capacity after six years of regular use, a figure aimed at buyers who keep phones for the long haul. According to Vivo’s internal testing, the Y500 4G delivers:
- Up to 29.6 hours of continuous video playback
- Up to 13.5 hours of GPS navigation
- Up to 10.2 hours of PUBG Mobile gameplay
- Up to 67 hours of music playback on a single charge

Camera and Everyday Usability
The rear camera setup pairs a 50MP Sony IMX852 main sensor with a 2MP secondary sensor, while a 32MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. Vivo has added AI Erase 2.0 and AI UHD 2.0 to the camera app, along with underwater photography support tied to the phone’s water resistance rating. That resistance rating is another selling point rarely seen at this price. The Vivo Y500 4G carries both IP68 and IP69 certifications and has been tested against submersion, high-pressure water jets, and household liquid exposure. It also meets MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability standards and includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Vivo Y500 4G Price and Availability
Vivo priced the 128GB version at PKR 99,999, roughly $359 at current exchange rates, while the 256GB model costs PKR 109,999, around $395. Both versions come in Midnight Blue and Pearl White. The Vivo Y500 4G has not received an official United States release date. Vivo typically expands select Y-series models to additional markets in South Asia and Southeast Asia before considering wider global distribution, so American buyers interested in the device will likely need to watch for import listings or a future regional announcement from Vivo.
